The BIGGEST threat to American values

I have copied a poll question from another forum I occasionally peek in on.

At first, the question made me fee icky all over, thinking "Is this what we have been reduced to?"

But on reflection, I thought the poll question speaks to our political and social views and WHO or WHAT GROUP we hold most responsible for destroying what we consider American "values."

Given that we are mostly liberal minded folks on here, posting the poll is going to elicit partisan responses, but for sake of argument, will post the poll question below anyways, just to see if anyone is willing to play devil's advocate.


Which of the following groups of people do YOU find to be the biggest threat to American life and values?



Though not listed as part of the poll, there are other categories I could think of, like the Religious Right vs Atheism, or you might have other groups in mind that are a threat to American values.

Philosophical Question #14 – Lifestyle Choices

Here is an interesting question in my list of philosophical questions: 1.) Should governments have penalties for those who live unhealthy lifestyles? A list of unhealthy lifestyles would include things like smoking, drinking, illegal drugs, prostitution, and other “vice” type activities. I guess the “government penalties” would be referring to monetary punishments, withholding medical treatments (insurance companies would love that), possibly imposing/regulating very high (exorbitant) prices on things considered unhealthy in order to cut down on their use, and other possibilities. 2.) Or, would you say that living an unhealthy lifestyle, likely resulting in a LOT of eventual personal pain and suffering, should be punishment enough for unhealthy lifestyles? When people make bad choices in life, often in their youth where ignorance and immediate gratification takes them over,  3.)
