Time to step away.

Image
Many who used to visit here regularly also would visit Kat's forum. Now she has opted to say goodbye. Why? Disqus isn't what it used to be, and traffic has crawled to almost a stop. https://countrykatnc.blogspot.com/2026/05/its-finally-friday-and-final-thread.html I have been taking the last couple of months to contemplate what I want to do with this forum. I think it's time for me to step away as well. Reasons are multiple. Mainly the loss of old friends, Susan and milo but others as well that, when I check their profiles, have been inactive for months, some for a year or two. Never heard why. Just stopped coming here or anywhere on Disqus. Lack of enthusiasm and participation has been evident as well. That includes my lack of enthusiasm. I am NOT blaming anyone. I can't advertise this forum so newbies are rare. Regulars have either gone away or drop in and leave a comment or two - often, it seems, out of habit. Back n forth conversations don't happen much any mor...

Jackie & Shadow update

Welp, ladies 'n germs, the little 'uns are getting big. One or two fish, parts of 'em actually, are always in the nest. Heads gone but the body with the protein is intact. It is so soothing to see nature doing its thing. Some things are still right in the world. https://youtu.be/B4-L2nfGcuE

Fictional Items You Would Like To Have

Image
From TV and the movies.  Fictional items you would like to have.  The car from Knight Rider?  Harry Potter’s invisibility cloak?   Bunny would like the stopwatch from the Twilight Zone.  If you click it, time stops, except for you. What do you want? J. P. Bunny

Books of an era.

Image
NOT much action on here lately and of course, SNOWY has been absent. I really hope we can have some convo over the following topic because it has been really bringing back memories for me. Here goes: Background: When in my teens and early adulthood I was really into books that spoke to my generation. Some are still popular, some were a fad. Luckily, my highschool was very progressive for the times (60s, 70s), and allowed us students to read just about any material provided two things: That the books we read had SOME social commentary, and we could write about what attracted us, or repelled us. Lately I was on the hunt for a book titled  A Separate Peace by John Knowles  (published 1959) Found a copy on a dusty bookshelf in a 2nd hand book store. Of course books with a social message didn't have to be written in the 60s or 70s, as long as they stimulated our minds and made us think about conditions outside of our personal experience. Of course everyone is pretty much fami...

Things You Got, And Things You Didn’t

Image
In school, Bunny never got geometry, other than the area of a simple object.   “Prove this is a triangle.”  “It has three sides.”  “Prove it.”  Screw that.    Math fine, until you left the numbers behind, and went with letters.  Lost at sea. English, history, art, music, no problem for Bunny. What about you?  This can also be life now. J. P. Bunny

Do You Know What This Is?

Image
A one off item.   Do you know what it is?  If so, do you know who it belonged to? Answers on the morrow. J.P. Bunny

Household Chores

Image
Household chores.  Do you enjoy them?  Don’t like them?  Just something that needs to be done?  Bunny likes cleaning the ceiling lights, but not at a set time, such as end of year cleaning.   Cleaning behind the fridge…leave the dust be. How are you and chores?

Cheesy movies

Image
I found, on one of my streaming services, The Lords of Flatbush. The Lords of Flatbush  (1974) is  often considered a "cheesy"  or at least a highly nostalgic, low-budget 1970s take on the 1950s, though it is also recognized for its authentic atmosphere and for launching the careers of Sylvester Stallone and Henry Winkler. No doubt about it, this is one cheesy movie. Any OTHER cheesy movies you all fell in love with and are loathe to admit you enjoy watching??

Dost Ðy Language Date Ðe?

Image
Most of us here are not young whippersnappers. Our language tends to reflect that.  Have your words caused some to scratch their heads?  The students never knew what Bunny was going on about with record player, phonograph, tape recorder, nifty… Anything you normally use that dates you? Quiz time again..............

Image
Here you go................. How is seven different from the rest of the numbers between one and ten? What comes once in a minute, twice in a moment, but never in a thousand years?  Which word in the dictionary is always spelled incorrectly? What is seen in the middle of March and April that can’t be seen at the beginning or end of either month? What is the word we are looking for? The first two letters signify a male, the first three letters signify a female, the first four letters signify greatness, while the entire word signifies a great woman. What is the word?  What English word has three consecutive double letters? What disappears as soon as you say its name? And finally, a real tricky one that I am SURE our resident geniuses will have an answer for: What are the next three letters in this combination? OTTFFSS And yes I know the answers but ain't tellin' ya.

A house worth investing in?

Image
$105,000 5 bed 4 bath 3,140 sqft DAMN, that sounds like a bargain for sure, but even better......  Before Beatlemania, George Harrison visited his sister in Illinois. The house is now for sale For the skinny British musician, it was an unassuming trip to visit his sister’s family in September 1963 in Benton, Illinois. Now, the house where Harrison and his brother Peter stayed in Benton, 100 miles (160 kilometers) southeast of St. Louis, is for sale. You’ll forgive Beatles fans if they’re worried about its future. In 1995, the house at 113 McCann Street had a date with the wrecking ball. Activists, including Harrison’s sister, Louise Harrison Caldwell, who had moved away in the late 1960s, stepped in to save it. In the mid-1990s, a state agency bought the house from a subsequent owner with plans to flatten it for parking. Mega-fan Robert Bartel of Springfield, a Beatles author and documentarian, alerted the media and Fab Four loyalists. Local investors repurchased it from the state ...

Deep Thoughts

Image
Once in a while, something deep strikes Bunny.  Was looking at all the books on the shelves and thought, “Damn.  How much information, adventure, future, past, and present is in those books.”   By being able to read, there is no limit to the worlds and universes available to you.  All whenever you want, and in your head. Any such thoughts enter your head from time to time? J.P. Bunny

Israel says Thunberg more influential ‘antisemite’ than Fuentes

Image
Sorry, but this is nuts. https://responsiblestatecraft.org/israel-antisemitism/ Mind you, the rating has been done by the Israeli government, so they consider ANY criticism of their campaign against the Palestinians as anti-Semitic. As for Nick Fuentes: Fuentes has questioned the historical accuracy of the Holocaust He frequently promotes the idea that "Zionist Jews" control the government, media, and financial systems Fuentes has described "Jewishness" as a common denominator among his enemies and claimed that "Jewish subversion" is responsible for the destruction of white, Christian American culture Fuentes has used extreme language, at times calling for a "holy war" and stating that "Talmudic Jews" should be removed from the country or convert Now THAT sounds more anti-Semitic to me, doesn't it to you? So, who is #1 on the list? Who the heck is Bilzerian? Dan Bilzerian is best described as a far-right, controversial influencer w...

Come on people, beagles need rescuing!!

Hundreds of activists plan to raid, take dogs from embattled breeder Organizers say over 1,700 people are committed to nonviolence. In a statement, Ridglan Farms called the planned April 19 operation an illegal break-in. Animal rights activists are preparing to  attempt a controversial raid at a beagle breeding facility , breaking in and taking thousands of dogs they say are being abused. The operation won't be in the dead of night, but in the broad daylight, and is being planned out in the open for all to see. The planned April 19 mission at Ridglan Farms comes after a much smaller action in March that prompted the Wisconsin facility to ramp up its security measures: Wire fencing, hay bales and trenches now line the property, reported the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel, part of the USA TODAY Network. This time around, organizers have posted full details online, including timing, team structures and a public signup form that has drawn over 1,700 people planning to participate in...

Male G-spot has finally been found and it's not where you thought it was https://www.tyla.com/life/sex-and-relationships/male-g-spot-penis-722811-20260407 After years of searching, the official male G-spot has supposedly been found. Recent statistics have shown that  provocation of the prostate gland  has been associated with deep  sexual  pleasure - so much so that some sexperts have dubbed this region the male G-spot. But a new study has hugely contradicted this verdict, suggesting that the real G-spot is several centimetres north, in a largely overlooked area of the penis. Any gents reading this (and ladies too), look away now - to study sensation in the penis, they sliced the donated genitals into small sections, just a few millimetres thick, and then added a dye which bound to nerve endings. They found plenty of nerve endings in the glans, the head of the penis, but the real 'on-switch' is thought to be in the frenula delta, the triangular area at the und...
