Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene's husband files for divorce, saying in court docs that marriage was 'irretrievably broken' According to court documents seen by Insider, Perry Greene and the conservative congresswoman have been married for just over 27 years. In his petition, Perry Greene wrote that he and the congresswoman had been in a "bona-fide state of separation" before he filed the papers in Georgia's Floyd County. https://www.businessinsider.com/rep-marjorie-taylor-greenes-husband-files-for-divorce-2022-9 DANG! Maybe she be havin' the hots for another man? OK guys, step on up, she gonna be single, and who wouldn't want THIS hot number? What say y'all?

Is dark matter real? Astronomy’s multi-decade mystery

Image
Is dark matter real? Astronomy’s multi-decade mystery But astronomers have a problem: They don’t understand how galaxies can exist — a problem that has remained unsolved after decades of research. The problem is relatively simple. Galaxies are collections of stars held together by gravity. Like our solar system, they rotate, with stars marching in stately paths, orbiting the galactic center. At any fixed distance from the center of the galaxy, stars moving faster require stronger gravity to hold them in that orbit. When astronomers measure the orbital speed of stars in galaxies at a range of distances from the center, they find that the stars are moving so fast that galaxies should be torn apart.  The most common explanation for this observational conundrum is a so-far undiscovered form of matter: dark matter. If it exists, dark matter exerts gravity, but it doesn’t emit light or any form of electromagnetic radiation. This means it can’t be seen by telescopes or any instrumentation t

Using acronyms to rile people up

Image
I wish I could take credit for the following, but I found this in the comment section on another site and thought I would just copy and past it here. Those conservatives and right wingers sure do like their acronyms. They love to rail against the MSM, the DOJ, the FBI, the PC culture, those who teach CRT, and are so damn WOKE. (ok the last one isn't exactly an acronym, but close enough, a scary phrase that only needs a few letters to arouse anger and bitterness). They accuse anyone who criticizes Trump of TDS, you can't trust the CDC or the FDA and certainly not the IRS. And you must be VERY fearful of BLM and ANTIFA. The LBGTQ folks are grooming our kids to be gay or transsexual. I mean think about it, all you have to do to get conservatives dripping with venom is shout out: MSM, DOJ, FBI, PC, CRT, WOKE, TDS, CDC, FDA, IRS, BLM, ANTIFA, LBGTQ. Very effective messaging that. Owning the LIBS is easy if you can just slap them with a few acronyms or shortcuts. It's like they

THE zombie apocalypse is COMIN'

Image
14% of Americans have a zombie apocalypse plan Over one in ten Americans (14%) have a zombie plan ready if the undead ever rove the Earth in search of human flesh, according to a new YouGov survey. Almost a quarter of Millennials (24%) have a zombie plan prepared, compared to 15 percent of Generation X and 6 percent of Baby Boomers. America’s post-grads are also more likely than other education levels to have a zombie plan—22 percent of them have a zombie plan compared to 14 percent of those with a four-year degree. Two in ten (20%) people who live in urban areas have a zombie plan compared to 11 percent of those in rural communities and 12 percent of those who live in the suburbs. Roughly two in ten (21%) would find a secure location to hole up and hide, with many mentioning nearby stores or warehouses that would offer access to weapons and resources. Fewer than two in ten (16%) mentioned their specific desire to stockpile necessary supplies, such as food. Some Americans (12%) outri

HALF? Maybe a quarter, or a third, but HALF? Nearly half of Americans think dinosaurs ‘definitely’ still exist today Dinosaurs  lived between about 245 and 66 million years ago, and are, I hope we can all agree, long dead. Turns out, a surprising number of  Americans  believe they still roam the  Earth  today. We’ve one question - where do they think they’re hiding? A recent OnePoll  survey  asked 2,000 Americans if they believed that dinosaurs may still exist in remote areas of the world, 46% of them said “yes, definitely”. It was 66 million years ago when dinosaurs went extinct but apparently most of the Americans survey do not believe this to be true. 23% said the extinction happened 2,000 years ago, 21% said 100 years ago, 18% responded 10,000 years ago 13% said 3 million years ago. Despite these inaccurate guesses, most were able to recognise a tyrannosaurs rex. However, an astounding 60% think there was a dinosaur called the “doyouthinktheysarus.” Though, parents are seemingly s

by Kelly Who else remembers September 11, 2001? I live on the West Coast, so it was 6:00 our time. I had the alarm clock set for 6:00, and it was set to start playing the news instead of ringing an alarm, so we could kind of ease into our day. So it went off and I was laying there listening to it when I realized they were talking about a plane hitting a building. I just looked at my then husband and we leapt out of bed, ran to the living room and turned on the TV. There was the first tower with smoke billowing out of it and the announcers speculating about it being some kind of freak accident. I was frozen, just watching it and thinking about those poor people and wondering how it happened.  Then the second plane came into view, flying straight toward that second tower. I remember a feeling of panic and my ex told me that I screamed out NO!! and reached toward the screen. Then it hit. Then we knew that it wasn’t an accident. Then we knew that someone had flown those planes into those b

INTRODUCING - THE HOUSE HIPPO

Image
Why an old commercial for a house hippo still fascinates Canadians today The Canadian house hippo commercial has gained a cult following over the years, with thousands of people across the country still paying tribute to the mythical house pet that appeared on our screens in 1999. The house hippo has inspired  TikToks . It's inspired  t-shirts , the name of  a band  and even  an urban dictionary page . Most recently, the house hippo was revived in a 2019 ad by Ontari0-based  MediaSmarts  that warns modern audiences about the dangers of misinformation on the internet. All of it pays homage to the original public broadcast, which shows the sweet little hippo scavenging for crumbs of peanut butter toast and running away from a house cat. The original 1999 commercial was designed to teach children about fake news (because, much to everyone's chagrin, house hippos aren't actually a thing), but the adorable little pet has since taken on a life of its own. So what was the inspir

Prince Charles Is a Vampire

Image
The Bizarre Reason Why Some Think Prince Charles Is a Vampire The royal family has seen many — we repeat  many  — conspiracies theories over the years. But, none quite compare to the idea of who (or, what) Prince Charles really is. Some speculate the future king is a vampire — yes, ladies and gentlemen, a  vampire. In 2011, Prince Charles promoted a television show inspired by his fascination and interest in Romania’s Transylvania. He revealed his relation to 15th-century Romanian prince, Vlad the Impaler, who was the inspiration behind Bram Stoker’s 1897 story of “Dracula.” However, the Prince of Wales has no interest in blood sucking. According to  CBS , the future king touched on his genealogy, which proves his relation to the infamous prince. Prince Charles used his  blood  connection to Vlad the Impaler to promote his interests in the future of the country and focus on the conservation of its forests. He even owns a home in Transylvania!   https://www.cheatsheet.com/entertainmen

California Has Legalized Human Composting

California Has Legalized Human Composting By 2027, Golden State residents will have the choice to turn their bodies into nutrient-rich compost Sarah Kuta September 21, 2022 3:21 p.m. Human composting transforms corpses into nutrient-rich soil.  Pixabay California has joined a growing number of states that allow residents to compost their bodies after death. A new law, signed by Gov. Gavin Newsom on Sunday, directs California officials to develop regulations for the practice known as natural organic reduction by 2027. Washington became  the first state  in the nation to  legalize human composting  in 2019, followed by  Colorado  and  Oregon  in 2021.  Vermont  legalized the practice in June 2022. Human composting typically involves putting a body into a steel vessel, then covering it with organic materials like straw, wood chips and alfalfa.  Microbes break down  the corpse and the plant matter, transforming the various components into nutrient-rich soil in roughly 30 days.
