Is Applesauce Healthy?

Image
Applesauce is made from whole apples and only a few other basic ingredients, so it offers many of the same health benefits as apples. Similarly to whole  apples , plain applesauce is low in calories, fat, and salt. It contains some carbs and natural sugar, as well as small amounts of vitamins and minerals, including copper, B vitamins, and vitamins C and E. However, its content of other nutrients, such as fiber, vitamins, minerals, and antioxidants, depends on a few key factors. These include: the variety of apples used how the apples were processed the cooking temperature whether the peel was included in the sauce On average, a 1/2-cup (122-gram) serving of unsweetened applesauce contains: Calories:  51 Protein:  0.2 grams Fat:  0.1 grams Carbs:  13.7 grams Fiber:  1.3 grams Sugar:  11.5 grams Sodium:  less than 1% of the Daily Value (DV) Copper:  4% of the DV Iron:  2% of the DV Folate:  1% of the DV Potassium:  2% of the DV Magnesium:  1% of the DV Thiamine:  3% of the DV Riboflav

How To Wipe Your Butt the Healthy Way

Image
You might be wiping your butt in a way that can lead to health issues. https://www.health.com/condition/digestive-health/how-to-wipe-your-butt Wipe Your Butt From Front To Back You've probably heard this directive since you were a kid, and it's really important. "This means wiping in the direction from your urethra to your anus,"  Alyssa Dweck, MD , a gynecologist in Westchester County, New York, and author of  The Complete A to Z for Your V , told Health. "There are far more bacteria in the rectal area; that's why you want to avoid dragging the toilet paper in the other direction  toward  your urethra. Bringing this bacteria up [towards the] front can  contribute to a urinary tract infection ," said Dr. Dweck Choose the Right Toilet Paper The best type is soft, white toilet paper that hasn't been dyed and isn't scented. Thin, scratchy toilet paper, scented toilet paper, and recycled TP can cause irritation or even an allergic reaction. Do the

What's cookin' for Easter weekend?

Image
Four days off. Thank goodness. We up here in N. Ontario got buried in the last week. The worst behind us now.  As for what's cookin': I will be preparin' a huge stew, one of my specialties. Then each day of the weekend I will enjoy a bowl with maybe a salad or some dinner rolls. My stews tend to be thick and rich, and spicy. Lookin' forward to a bowl a night...........................by myself. You see, a certain young lady has left me. For Easter no less. You're thinkin' yeah this is one of her trips back home to see her daughters. You would be right. So why didn't I go with her. Her stay will be a longer one. Her one daughter is gravely ill, and has been for years. But now worse than ever. So Geri will be staying a few weeks to tend to her. If the medical profession has ever failed someone it is with her daughter. They have done every possible test under the sun and still don't know why she is at death's door. She is a tall lady of 5'6" a

What Stupid Things Do You Wonder About?

Image
The title says it all.  Stupid, not important, doesn’t matter, but you still spend time wondering about.   Bunny always wonders how superheroes go to the toilet.  Form fitting, one-piece costumes look nifty, but require a complete undressing for a simple emptying of the bladder.  Doc Oc can do a lot of damage in the time it takes Spidey to suit up after a whiz. What about you.  What utterly stupid things occupy your brain cells? J.P. Bunny

What annoys/delights you?

SNOWFLAKE : Susan, hint: a thread about our emotions. That ought to be an interesting one. *     *     * Okay, challenge accepted. Emotions are killers; mostly figuratively but sometimes literally. Sometimes they can take on the form of what’s called “temporary insanity.”  Those so-called “crimes of passion” is the best example, I'd say. Recall O.J.’s rage of jealousy when he believed his estranged wife, Nicole Brown Simpson, was having an affair with Ronald Goldman?  He temporarily flipped out, or so many of us believe.  Maybe you didn’t think he did it, and that could be a thread for another day.  But let’s not go there today. Let’s stick to something a little/LOT more innocuous; our everyday emotions, the garden variety stuff. Question:   So, what are you overly touchy about/emotionally swayed by, whether in a happy or sad way? (E.g., your significant other, kids, pets, family/extended family, politicians, religions, work, life/people in general, other?)  What gets to you, a

Jekyl and Hyde

Image
I recall the classic tale of Doctor Jekyl and Mister Hyde: The psychological story of a man living a secret double life, respected physician by day, murderous shadow by night.   Some years ago I began working in a program managed by a supervisor who was known for having  unpredictable personality shifts. I soon learned the description was true. One week he'd be jovial and communicative and on other weeks he'd be sullen and barking. When in a bad mood he didn't hesitate to  hand down needlessly harsh criticism of staff during meetings, a trait that generated resentment and diminished  overall efficiency in the workplace. We never knew what we were going to encounter. I minimized contact with him and learned to approach him guardedly because I never knew whether his response with be grin or glower.  I did not savor those years and I was glad when he retired.  Have you ever had to live with, work with, or otherwise rub elbows with someone like that? Someone who had an split pe

It's Sunday, let's go to church! 😇

Christian nationalism (CN) is a powerful wealth and power movement that is urgently intent on establishing American as a corrupt, aggressive, bigoted fundamentalist Christian theocracy. The core CN goal is to impose Christian Sharia law above the secular constitution and "man-made" laws, which are firmly believed to be inferior to God's laws. According to God, as told to us by CN elites, the kleptocratic theocratic political machine is to be run by a Christian Taliban comprised mostly of wealthy, White heterosexual men. Evidence of God's choice is their wealth and sex, with God ordaining that men are superior to women. Although hard core CN is backed by only a minority of Americans, maybe about 25%, the American electoral system allows for a tyranny imposed by such a minority. No law says that majority opinion and votes has to control.  The reason for the urgency among CN elites is the constant decrease in the role of religion in the lives of increasing numbers of Ame

Regarding God chatbots

Image
All of us here are curious about the anticipated merger of artificial intelligence chatbots with religion. We are on the verge of another reformation or something dark ages as AI insights begin to, as Steve Bannon would say, flood the zone with s**t.  A Scientific American article discusses  artificial intelligence religion chatbots: God Chatbots Offer Spiritual Insights on Demand.  What Could Go Wrong? Just before midnight on the first day of Ramadan last year, Raihan Khan—a 20-year-old Muslim student living in Kolkata—announced in a LinkedIn post that he had launched QuranGPT, an artificial-intelligence-powered chatbot he had designed to answer questions and provide advice based on Islam’s holiest text. Then he went to sleep. He awoke seven hours later to find it had crashed because of an overflow of traffic. A lot of the comments were positive, but others were not. Some were flat-out threatening. QuranGPT—which has now been used by about 230,000 people around the world—is just one o

Congress Out Of Session Two Weeks Until After Eclipse & More Evidence They Know Something We Don't As Govts Urge Everyone To Prepare As They Race Full Speed Towards Nuclear Annihilation So while we can fully understand that April 8th, and the days leading up to it and following it, may well bring us  'a whole lot of nothing,'  and we believe that we certainly shouldn't get ourselves all worked up over THAT but instead,  continue to be fully prepared for almost anything to happen in the days, weeks and months ahead  with our  insane ' leaders '  seemingly  rushing to get us into a nuclear war  while trying to  extinguish the 1st Amendment  here as it allows their crimes of treason to be exposed to the American people, we'll continue to stress the fact that we fully believe these democrats/globalists who stole the election in 2020  will NEVER allow President Trump, or any other 'anti-globalist' for that matter, to 'win' the election in 20

Why we shouldn’t…

Image
…versus why shouldn’t we?   Cuss, that is. Around here (on the anonymous blogs), what’s the difference if you cuss for real or cuss in code?   We are all familiar with the "code" cuss words and acronyms:   Forker Freakin’ WTF Geez Darn LMAO Golly Heck Shoot As George Carlin so aptly pointed out, “Shoot is really just sh!t with two o’s.”: So, why shouldn’t we/why we shouldn’t cuss for real? You might offend someone. It sets a bad example, especially around children. It’s a bad habit that’s hard to break.  So don’t even start it! God doesn’t approve. It turns off some people.   Thus, you can lose readership. Fake cuss words are more polite; promotes a higher class of clientele. Disqus might send us into pending mode. Fake cuss words hit the ear more gently. They’re just plain rude and not necessary. Use is one thing.   Abuse is another. Mom told me not to. It’s not lady-like (gentleman-like). Fake cuss words show more control over emotions. Acronyms are just as effect

Here’s something sick…

Now why did I know that title would grab your attention?  😜   Actually, it’s something more on (totally on) the morbid side.  We all have to go sometime, so let’s make some fun of it. Let’s laugh to keep from crying.  Plus, Snowy likes fun and games on his channel. We can do that!  Today, you get to mock the Grim Reaper (or mock life-in-general) with your own (comical/sarcastic/witty/other) gravestone epitaph. Let’s go out with a bang (hopefully not literally). 😱 So, what do you want your pretend (i.e., not cast in stone 😁) epitaph to say?  E.g.:  “Adios mo-fos!”   “Thanks for the e-ticket ride, life!”  “Now what?” “Miss me yet?!”  “Wake me up when it’s over… oh wait!” “Now effe-off, you sons-a-bitches!” “Someone call 9-1-1!” “This was NOT what I expected!” “(see other side)” literally 😮 “Help!” “And I was just getting started. WTF?!?” “Well, that was a waste of time.” “Brother can you spare a dime glass of ice-water?” (This epitaph page was intentionally left blank)

You Want To Buy A What?

This one just hit Bunny today as we were taking care of kitty, who came back from the hospital.  She has to wear that collar that keeps her from scratching her ears.  Don’t know the proper name in the States, but here it is called an Elizabeth Collar.  After Elizabeth I.  No one knows what a stapler is, but they know what a Hotchkis is. Are there any words that you use every day, but no one outside of your area knows? J.P. Bunny

What is spiritual narcissism?

Image
Narcissists   are everywhere − and, yes, that includes   church . If you've been involved in a church, yoga class, meditation group or other  religious  or  spiritual community , odds are you've come across a spiritual  narcissist , or a  narcissist  who uses spirituality and religion as a means to garner attention and validation, also known as narcissistic supply, to control others. By no means does someone being religious or spiritual mean they're a narcissist. Rather, psychologists say, spiritual narcissists distort religion and spirituality to cater to their own selfish interests, as well as to punish and abuse others. Spiritual narcissists will often take religious teachings out of context in order to gaslight people into doing what they want them to do or to justify their own mistreatment of others. If you speak out or raise questions to a spiritual narcissist, expect a smear campaign, in which the narcissist criticizes your faith, spiritual practice and morals. Lik

Not sure what century we are in.

True story forthcoming. I am in the midst of reading a fascinating trilogy. Complicated story lines, but the long and short of it describes crimes committed in the 1960s against black people, including kidnapping, torture and death. One of the worst crimes in those days was considered  a black man associating with a white woman.  Very graphic in detail. And historically accurate (though the stories themselves are fictional) Imagine then, as I am reading these books, reading this news item: Mississippi ‘Goon Squad’ deputies get yearslong sentences for racist torture of 2 Black men In January 2023, the deputies burst into a Rankin County home without a warrant and assaulted the men with stun guns, a sex toy and other objects. JACKSON, Miss. (AP) — Two former Mississippi sheriff’s deputies were sentenced to years behind bars Tuesday for torturing two Black men after a neighbor complained that the men were staying in a home with a white woman. Hunter Elward, 31, was sentenced to about 20
