I really thought the “green” would give it away. Many came close by recognizing it was plant-related. And who hasn’t seen this little thingy left over on their plate? Non-broccoli eaters, that’s who.
Yes, it was a… what do they call this thing? Is it a speck, a sliver, a strand of broccoli? It can’t be a stalk, as in stalk of celery, because it’s way too small. Or does size matter? You’ve heard of Carl Sagan’s “worldlets.” Is it a broc-let? A flor-ette? A broccoli-ette (ette meaning “little”)? A “stem” of broccoli? Nah, can’t be.
