Right-Wing Revolt: Tucker Carlson Worries Trump Unable to Function Well Enough to Get Re-Elected While Trump Campaign Scraps Alabama Rally

As a Fox News poll predicts Biden will win key swing states like Georgia and Texas, the right-winged media worry Trump is flailing. Rupert Murdoch’s Wall Street Journal writing he “has no second-term agenda” just as Trump botches a softball question from Hannity on his re-election plans, not answering it at all. MSNBC's Chief Legal Correspondent Ari Melber breaks it all down: Democrats Are on Pace for a Down-Ballot Blowout Miss. gov. signs bill into law removing Confederate symbol from state flag Trump campaign scraps rally ahead of Sessions-Tuberville primary amid pandemic Democrats Are on Pace for a Down-Ballot Blowout Miss. gov. signs bill into law removing Confederate symbol from state flag Trump campaign scraps rally ahead of Sessions-Tuberville primary amid pandemic President Donald Trump's   campaign has scrapped plans to hold a rally in Alabama next weekend amid concerns about   coronavirus infections   rising in the US, CNN has learned. Coal reaching 'tipping point' vs renewables: analysis

Coal reaching 'tipping point' vs renewables: analysis Getting less viable economically all the time Renewable energy such as wind and solar projects are already cheaper to build than it is to continue operating 40 percent of the world's existing coal fleet, according to analysis released Tuesday. In a report outlining how the world can phase out the most polluting fuel while powering an  economic recovery  from the coronavirus pandemic, a group of experts said  coal  had reached a financial "tipping point" making it uncompetitive in most markets. The authors estimate that a third of the global coal fleet is already more costly to run than it is to build new renewable power solutions, including battery storage.  That figure is set to rise to 73 percent of the fleet by 2025, said the analysis, which also found that replacing the entire coal fleet with  clean energy  could be done at a net saving to the global economy as soon as 2022.  "A faster

Re: Covid-19

A few days ago, Mike Pence said in a press briefing that NOT wearing a mask is a citizen’s constitutional right, even though the Trump administration health officials advocate for wearing masks.  Link to video here.   Barring any personal health reasons/issues (e.g., asthma), I would submit that: NOT wearing a mask in public or around the vulnerable = FU grandpa’s/ma’s of the world. Agree or disagree?   If you disagree, please explain your reasoning. (by Granny PrimalSoup)

The truth about the US’ most iconic food

Image
The truth about the US’ most iconic food The truth about the US’ most iconic food Where to try the 'original' hot dog While Feltman’s hot dogs are no longer available on the Coney Island boardwalk, they are available in more than  2,000 supermarkets  across the US. If there’s any food that represents Americana, it’s the humble hot dog. Today, these bunned frankfurters are sold at every baseball game, grilled at nearly every backyard barbecue and available at roadside convenience stores from the Carolinas to California. In fact, this most archetypal of American foods originated as the US started to stitch itself back together in the 1860s following the American Civil War and forge its new identity. But while you can now find these seasoned sausage sandwiches across the American heartland, the hot dog’s iconic home is on the boardwalk at New York’s Coney Island. As the city was sweating its way through a heat wave, I descended into the furnace that was the N

Whacky Movies, Trash Cinema and the Joy of Bad Film

Image
Call it "midmight movies."  Call it "trash cinema."  Hey, just call it "delightful crap."  We've all got favorites--movies so bad, they're ...well, not "good" so much as "a whole lotta fun." Who can forget Glen or Glenda, in which garbage film genius Ed Wood lets his transvestite ya-yas hang out? Best of all, Wood was dead serious.  He was a transvestite himself, with a special love of angora sweaters. Hey, what's not to love? Then there's Zardoz , which the director made when the studio wouldn't bankroll an adaptation of The Lord of the Rings.  In this case, one picture will substitute for a thousand words: Has James Bond ever looked better?  Yow!  And speaking of "yow!" there's my very favorite. A film made by Danny Elfman's brother, with demented music by Elfman himself, our all-time favorite "little person"  Hervé   Villechaize    as the king of, um, something or other,
