Racist President Trump Shares Video of Supporter Yelling 'White Power' at Protesters

'Indefensible': Trump slammed for sharing video where supporter yells 'white power' at protesters

President Donald Trump came under fire Sunday after sharing a video in which a supporter twice shouts "white power."

"Thank you to the great people of The Villages. The Radical Left Do Nothing Democrats will Fall in the Fall. Corrupt Joe is shot. See you soon!!!" the president tweeted along with a video of a golf parade of his supporters in The Villages, a massive retirement community in central Florida.

White House Deputy Press Secretary Judd Deere said Trump was not aware the supporter had shouted the white supremacist slogan.

"President Trump is a big fan of The Villages. He did not hear the one statement made on the video. What he did see was tremendous enthusiasm from his many supporters,” Deere said in a statement.

The encounter between Trump supporters and critics comes amid nationwide protests against racial discrimination and police brutality. The president's decision to share the video of the encounter was quickly condemned, as critics seized upon the tweet as more evidence to support their claim that Trump is a racist, an assertion Trump has strongly denied.

"Trump shared a video where his supporter screams “white power” twice, which shouldn’t surprise anyone since Trump’s the biggest racist in the world," tweeted Scott Dworkin, co-founder of the anti-Trump Democratic Coalition.

"We have actually gotten to the point in this horrific journey that the President of the United States has tweeted a video of his supporter shouting 'White Power!' He doesn’t deserve one single vote," tweeted former Missouri Sen. Claire McCaskill.

"This is Donald Trump’s presidency: circulating video of supporter yelling 'white power!'" said CNN White House correspondent John Harwood.

Other critics noted that the protesters in the video also appeared to be residents of The Villages, as did several other anti-Trump protesters featured in the video.

Republican Sen. Tim Scott said on CNN'S "State of the Union," before the video was removed from Trump's Twitter feed, that he should delete the post.

"There's no question he should not have retweeted it and he should just take it down." Scott said. He called the video "offensive" and "indefensible," but added that he refused to "play politics with it."

Health and Human Services Secretary Alex Azar told CNN he had not seen the video, "but obviously neither the president, his administration nor I would do anything to be supportive of white supremacy or anything that would support discrimination of any kind."

Azar declined to comment when host Jake Tapper asked him if the president's tweet had been a "mistake."

The tweet was one of a series posted by Trump Sunday morning. In others, he referred to the presumptive Democratic nominee Joe Biden as a "Low IQ person," falsely claimed to have stopped the vandalization of public monuments by "imposing a very powerful 10-year prison sentence" on the vandalism and denounced the news media for reports that he had been told about an intelligence report that said Russia had put a bounty on U.S. troops in Afghanistan.

The Lincoln Coalition, a super PAC formed by anti-Trump conservatives, shared an ad about the Russian bounty report that condemned Trump for not retaliating against Russia and implied his "white power" tweet was intended to distract from the new scandal.
