Upvote / Downvote

Just a brief word about the upvote/downvote dilemma.

While I DO admit it is a nuisance, because when I visit sites where I have not been "approved" my comments go into "pending" - I still don't see it as a big deal to have lost so many upvotes.

For me, it is more a sign of agreement or support to give someone an upvote than a badge of honor for how many you have.

I would encourage everyone to upvote any statement you agree with or just show support for your fellow commenters - I even upvote our rightwing contributors for having the temerity to defend everything Trump says or does - because their temerity also deserves credit. (Though they often don't upvote my comments)

SO while I know some of you lament the loss of upvotes and it does make it a hassle visiting other sights, all one really has to do is make your first comment on another site a non-confrontation one and maybe make a comment about wishing to be added as a trusted user, well - that has worked for me.

What I detest though are downvotes and those are applied by those with an agenda to ruin someone else's rep.
Personally I would prefer the downvote option wasn't even available but don't expect Disqus to ever do anything about that.

When I detect downvoting I might challenge the person doing the downvoting, or if it is an invader from some other channel who wants to only downvote someone, I will just ban them outright.

Anyways, I know this a whole lot of nothing about a whole lot of nothing, and we all know Disqus is not interested in addressing lost upvotes, but I and my other mods will continue to do our best to add anyone who wants to belong here to our trusted user list.
