EASTER MESSAGE from SNOWFLAKE
Whether you are a religious person and this is the time of year to celebrate the Resurrection
Or you are less religious and this is the time of year for family (which you may have to do without)
Or if you think this is just a good time of year to remind ourselves that - despite our differences - we are all still part of the human equation
I still want to wish you ALL:
I do want to add a few quick (or maybe not so quick comments) about the direction of this Forum
Recently I posted a topic on guns, we were invaded by folks who NEVER comment on this Forum on any other topic, but came in droves to simply ridicule any posting about guns and promote their pro-gun stance.
When that happens, I have a tendency to ban the whole lot on sight - as trolling (and because I am familiar with their M.O. from the old Disqus days)
AND - I don't think I have ever done this before, but want to do it today:
We have one contributor on here that is a strong Trump supporter, whose views are more to the Right, and tends to look down on liberal views.
He has from time to time, accused those who criticized Trump, of being filled with hate or suffering TDS, and I have addressed this with him.
BUT for someone who has rightwing views, he has contributed to this Forum, both in the comment section and he has done the occasional OP.
I did not want this to become an echo chamber, so while most rightwingers avoid this channel or pop on here to hijack it, at least in this instance, I will defend Lance in his right to post dissenting views, or post a pro-Trump or anti-Liberal views, without too much censure, because folks:
WE have plenty on here who express anti-Trump, anti-Republican, anti-conservative views and that is what we are here for - to express our views as long as we are not trolling or name-calling or needlessly insulting each other.
YET I am sad to report that I still read comments from some of our regular contributors aimed at Lance, that resort to insults and name-calling and belittling. YET I would not allow Lance, or ANY OTHER rightwinger to name-call, insult or belittle our other contributors.
SO - fair is fair, whether the person is Lance, or if the person is one of our anti-Biden, pro-Bernie supporters who ONLY want to post negative comments about Biden and ONLY want to post about how corrupt the Democratic party has become, we need to recognize that while they may come across as hyper-partisan, they are still welcome to express their views.
I actually have a harder time dealing with the Bernie or bust crowd because I want Trump defeated in Nov. and I don't get their blind devotion to their ideology that could sink our chances of defeating Trump.
SO HOW ABOUT THIS:
WE can - if we chose - acknowledge that we have different points of views, that we can get mad and frustrated by someone else's point of view, but that we can still remain civil and not give in to needless insults and name-calling, and we can at least consider the spirit of Easter, and just give each other:
