A trip down memory lane...

Okay, keeping it going...

What are some of the events that stand out to you about each grade of school you were in?  I.e., something that happened to you in 1st grade, 2nd grade, 3rd grade, etc.  Me:

1st grade: A lot of memories from this one.  I learned what the word "initials" meant.  I remember Einstein passed away and all the adults were behaving like something important happened.  I forgot my lunch money one day and my teacher gave me a dime, and I went and bought a bag of potato chips.  My friend taught me how good an overabundance of crackers were in my veg soup.  I still do that with my Campbell's Vegetarian Vegetable soup to this day.

2nd grade: My teacher bopped me on the head with his pencil.  Never forget it. :(  Only a few of us got the chocolate milk for our afternoon snack.  I was one of them.  I didn't understand why someone would pick white milk over chocolate.  The small cartons costed 2-cents, and my mom tied those two pennies in at the end of my hankie.  My two girlfriends and I would ask to go to the bathroom (separately) and stay there for it seemed like hours.  We would take turns brushing each others long hair.  I won the class spelling bee contest.  (Thank the gods for spellcheck today!)

3rd grade: Mrs. Shook came in every week, with her easel and felt figures, and told us Bible stories.  They played King Kong (the original) in the gymnasium, in segments, and we came in and watched a little bit of it, from day to day.  I got my first "breath knocked out of me" when I got hit in the stomach with dodge ball.  Had to leave and go sit outside on the steps to recover.

4th grade: I had a bag of marbles (a lot of boulders and cat eyes) and was the best marble shooter in the class.  A girl a couple of years older than me came and took me to her class upstairs (I don't remember why), and I felt very important to have such an older girl escort me around like that.

5th grade: My teacher, Mrs. Foul (true) had a lot of fat swinging from under her arm when she conducted us in songs.  She embarrassed me one day when she asked me to stand up and read something out loud , and I was so nervous that I don't remember what I was reading, and then she asked me to explain what I just read.  I felt like crying.

6th grade: My teacher kept a fish bowl with a fish in it on her desk.  She covered it up and let us watch as each day, the fish got sicker.  I remember that Alaska became a state.  I remember that we had to read the The Wreck of the Hesperus.

7th grade: We were supposed to take a shower after gym class and I would take everything but my underwear off, put my hand (no other body part) into the running shower, then got re-dressed, so I could honestly answer "yes," when I was asked if I took a shower.

Okay, good enough.  Give us some of your memories.
