ImperatorMachinarum asks…[S1E10]

ImperatorMachinarum•  [S1E10]

A favorite topic and obsession of mine: to what extent is an individual and family responsible for their outcome vs the public community? Particularly regarding education, family choices, work, and finance.

[backstory]

This is foundational for Maslow's hierarchal needs. One can be any identity, but one is a human tasked to hunt, gather, prepare, cook, and eat. Personally I see so many bad choices in education, family, work, and money that produce a bad outcome...where such folks then resort to radical politicians ready to champion their cause.

I get bad luck. But my personal and academic analysis is that this is the minority, with most outcomes determined by personal choices. Again, to what degree do we hold folks responsible? Do we bail them out? Do ants have to share disproportionately with grasshoppers, invoking moral hazard.

Debate it. Please!

-To summarize, what degree of responsibility does the individual (and/or family) have for controlling their own destinies/life situations?

-And if/when things go south (bad), does the greater society have any obligation to “bail out” the irresponsible types?

Give IM your thoughts on these complex questions.

And thanks for favoriting and supporting the thread!
