Checking on the birds



The WaPo published a cool interactive database (not behind paywall here) on bird populations. You can put in your city and see how the local birdies are doing in your area. The shown data below is for my little town, San Diego, CA. In the table, “abundance” refers to the number of individuals you could expect to see if you went birding for one hour over two kilometers.

The data was complied by the Cornell Lab of Ornithology. They have recorded bird songs you can play back.


Get out there (go online) and check on the birds!
