The union makes us strong.

 Today is Labour Day.

Without the trades unions the working person would not enjoy the relative prosperity and job security that they do today. The union has always been opposed by the employer and throughout the nineteenth and the early twentieth centuries they were banned and when they did raise their heads were severely beaten, shot, whatever it took to shut them down.

In spite of this opposition the workers clung to the union and it's only necessary to read a bit of history to see that the union has been the main cause of the rise of the worker from six year olds working in the coal mines to the aaaaaaautomate3d mines of today, operated the by educated workers.

How do you feel about the effects of trades unions?
