Rare full moon will light up Friday the 13th for the first time in years.

  
Are you superstitious?......afraid of the dark?.....afraid to get out of bed on Friday 13th? Well tomorrow is not going to be your day!! Not only is it Friday the 13th...your worst nightmare, but also this time around, it is going to be extra spooky.

This date associated with ghouls and ghosties, bad luck and haunted houses, is to have for the first time in years, a full moon.....those living in the Pacific, Central and Mountain time zones will get to gaze on the full moon before midnight on Friday, Sept. 13, but those living in the Eastern time zone will have to fudge a little. Their full moon will happen  just after midnight, at 12:33 a.m., pushing it to the much-less-spooky date of Saturday, Sept. 14.

Superstition around this notorious date, has at its roots one particular association. This is linked to the 13 individuals at the Last Supper, the thirteenth guest to sit down is thought to have been
 Judas Iscariot. Some even believe that he betrayed Jesus BECAUSE he was the 13th guest.


It is no secret that there is an inherent  fear of the number 13....and the name for this fear is  
Triskaidekaphobia. 

Why else would some choose to miss the number 13 from house numbers and a 13th floor from high rise buildings? The floor actually is still there btw, there is no fooling the dark forces.

Fear of Friday 13th is called Paraskevidekatriaphobia which originates from Paraskevi - Greek for Friday. If you really fear this day, you could fly to Greece, if you had time because there, you need to fear Tuesday 13th and in Italy...well, it is Friday the 17th which has Italians taking cover. 

Whatever you feel about this day, it is Friday after all so just have fun.....and remember to

No I don't fear it myself at all as you may have gathered....if you don't hear from me again - ever after today - Friday 13th has nothing to do with it. That I am sure of...I think. Time to step away.

 Many who used to visit here regularly also would visit Kat's forum. Now she has opted to say goodbye. Why? Disqus isn't what it used to be, and traffic has crawled to almost a stop. https://countrykatnc.blogspot.com/2026/05/its-finally-friday-and-final-thread.html I have been taking the last couple of months to contemplate what I want to do with this forum. I think it's time for me to step away as well. Reasons are multiple. Mainly the loss of old friends, Susan and milo but others as well that, when I check their profiles, have been inactive for months, some for a year or two. Never heard why. Just stopped coming here or anywhere on Disqus. Lack of enthusiasm and participation has been evident as well. That includes my lack of enthusiasm. I am NOT blaming anyone. I can't advertise this forum so newbies are rare. Regulars have either gone away or drop in and leave a comment or two - often, it seems, out of habit.
