How about some weekend fun?


What are some of your all-time favorite movies?  Those that moved you, those that gave you a laugh, those that kept you on the edge of your seat.  Give me a list of your favs, in no certain order, and end with your top nominees.  Here are mine:

Casablanca, The Guns of Navarone, Man Who Shot Liberty Valance (fav western, and I’m not much for those), Chicago, Fiddler on the Roof, Journey to the Center of the Earth (orig one), 2001: A Space Odyssey, Cabaret (no not Cabernet , but that’s my fav too), The Firm, Terms of Endearment, Same Time Next Year, To Kill a Mockingbird, Miracle Worker, Jason and the Argonauts, Inherit the Wind, Marooned, 12 Angry Men, Rebecca, Gaslight, The Subject was Roses, Father of the Bride (remake), Whose Afraid of Virginia Wolff?, Guess Who’s Coming to Dinner?, Funny Girl, Kramer vs. Kramer, Rainman, African Queen... (I know I forgot many here!)

And the nominees for best movie in my lifetime are:

- Remains of the Day 
- Born on the 4th of July
- One Flew Over the Cookoo’s Nest
- A Few Good Men 
- The Fisher King
- Philadelphia

Philosophical Question #14 – Lifestyle Choices

Here is an interesting question in my list of philosophical questions: 1.) Should governments have penalties for those who live unhealthy lifestyles? A list of unhealthy lifestyles would include things like smoking, drinking, illegal drugs, prostitution, and other “vice” type activities. I guess the “government penalties” would be referring to monetary punishments, withholding medical treatments (insurance companies would love that), possibly imposing/regulating very high (exorbitant) prices on things considered unhealthy in order to cut down on their use, and other possibilities. 2.) Or, would you say that living an unhealthy lifestyle, likely resulting in a LOT of eventual personal pain and suffering, should be punishment enough for unhealthy lifestyles? When people make bad choices in life, often in their youth where ignorance and immediate gratification takes them over,  3.)
