COMMENTARY
Ok - time for a little honesty here and calling out hypocrisy.
IF an agent from the IRS came to your house and said they needed to see all your taxes, and you have nothing to hide, you would abide with them to clear things up, right?
IF someone accused you of something, or you were charged with something, of which you were certain you were not guilty of, you would co-operate with the authorities fully to clear your name, right?
Yet, supporters of Trump seem to live in a whole new world, and it is getting old and tiresome reading their excuses and their deflections on every issue surrounding the President. Because none of this lot seem interested in knowing what is true, only wanting to deflect any suspicion away from him.
First we had the Mueller investigation, which found no collusion, so Trump won on that front, but does anyone remember all the angst, anger and hyperbole that went on BEFORE the Mueller report was completed? Surely you all remember all the endless discussions and debates and all out wars fought on the old Disqus channels.
The tactic was to say "yeah but Hillary, yeah but Obama, yeah but the Democrats, and this is all a conspiracy by the deep state and by the media"
Yet the same report left open the question of Obstruction, and any reasonable sane-minded person would acknowledge there was obstruction, because if Trump truly believed in his complete innocence on this matter, he would have fully co-operated with the investigation and not withheld witnesses and documents.
Furthermore, imagine if Obama had been under a similar investigation: the very same people SO willing to defend everything Trump would have been absolutely apoplectic about getting that Muslim black socialist Democrat out of office.
Hypocrisy never looked so obvious.
So I have endeavored to create a space here for all opinions, left and right, pro and con, but now we are in the midst of another scandal involving Trump, and I feel nauseated all over again.
Instead of Trump simply stating he did nothing wrong, and is willing to let the facts clear his name, he is pointing over there, wanting us to look at Biden and his son, and now has gone so far as to call those who complained about his activities as "traitors".
And there will be some - though I would love to be proven wrong - who would agree that anyone who squealed on Trump is a "traitor", because for them it is about Trump before country, not country before Trump.
I have already posted links to credible sources that have debunked the conspiracies around Biden, so no need to go there further, we know what that is - another attempt at deflection, and only Fox and their ilk will be beating this drum.
The point I have also made, is that impeachment is not the way to go, however of late, I agree that an impeachment inquiry might be necessary to bring forth witnesses and get documents (thought I suspect Trump will resist providing either), but I think whatever evidence comes up needs to be taken to the people in 2020 - not a recommendation to impeach.
The brings me to another point, those on the Left, who disagree with me, who want to see Trump impeached no matter what, can also get hyperbolic, and extreme in their rhetoric. They can't see the bigger picture, that the majority of Americans having been burned out by the Mueller report don't want to go through this again, they are asking: what can you do for us that will make us better off than under Trump.
In 2018, the Dems won back the House almost entirely on kitchen table issues such as health care, NOT because the Dems were focused solely on Trump's alleged collusion or obstruction. AND the environment is becoming a (excuse the pun) HOT topic going into 2020, so those who are all for impeachment come what may, you need to think if this is really what will win you an election.
SO, for the Trump apologists, the hypocrisy is unlike anything I have seen in recent history, it is absolutely nauseating to see people hell-bound to deflect and point the blame elsewhere when we all know had Obama been under the same microscope, the same people would have had the firing squad out.
AND for those on the Left who want impeachment so badly they have blinders on, and will take me or anyone else who doesn't want impeachment to task, are you being emotional or practical?
Forums like this are for diverse views and for debating hot button issues, but gawd, I wish we could do without the hypocrisy and without the partisan blinders.
For myself, since this impeachment inquiry is going the way of the Mueller report and will be all over the news ad nauseam till election day 2020, I am going to keep posting stuff that has nothing to do with this Ukraine and Biden business, the rest of you are welcome to keep doing so if that is what you feel you need to do.
But there are SO many other things going on in the world and in the States, surely we can find something else to talk about and get fixated about.
