An Impeachment Dream by Lance
I've been able to watch this Democrat circus for two days. As is typical of any public Congressional hearing there was ample bloviating, meaningless questions, and a bunch of Demcrats with nothing but egg on their face. Representative Schiff's fake conversation was a perfect start.
But let us leave the drama and hysteria over what is alleged for a moment to consider the trajectory. The House majority will at some point find something, real or imagined, to vote to impeach presipresident Trump. What Happens next?
The Senate has many options. McConnel can can simply refuse to bring the articles of impeachment before the Senate for trial. There is no constitutional mandate to bring it to floor. Any who thinks it could not happen just needs to be reminded of Obama's last Supreme Court nomination.
Another likely scenario would be to simply vote to dismiss the charges. A simple statement that the actions did not rise to the level of impeachment. After all this is nothing more than a political game and giving the House the finger would fit the tone of this Congress.
And finally, we could actually have a trial with the outcome known before it started. That would be a total waste of time. With the information we have there is no possible way to get the two-thirds needed to convict. The bottom line is the ultimate result. An energized base of Trump support to win a second term.
