ODE TO COUNTRY MUSIC

WELL GAWD DURN IT!

 HERE I though I was the only one who hated country music.

 Seems, you type in "don't like country music" into Google search, you get lots of sites saying why

 NOW I want y'all to know, this northern hippish leftist old-timer actually likes SOME country music, like the Dixie Chicks are kinda cool.

 BUT YEAH, there is something that grades on my nerves about country music, and it ain't because it is "country" nor the lame lyrics (RAP is lamer in my humble opinion), but because:
Country is supposed to be about women that are women, men that are men, hard workers, salt of the Earth and all that, so then WHY is it that country music is sung with a whiny twang and whiny guitars?????

 Kinda sounds effeminate to me, if you ask me, and yeah I know, ya didn't.

 SO STEP RIGHT UP FOLKS:

 Why do YOU like or dislike country music, and don't y'all go making it all hyper-partisan, though you DO know, liberals be like - forget country music and conservatives be like - don't give us hippie music or rap.

 Hell, this liberal likes some country like I said, hates rap, hates opera too, loves classic rock and blues, so the love of music ain't all just to do with your politics - but yeah, it that is your theory - let's hear it.

Time to step away.

 Many who used to visit here regularly also would visit Kat's forum. Now she has opted to say goodbye. Why? Disqus isn't what it used to be, and traffic has crawled to almost a stop. https://countrykatnc.blogspot.com/2026/05/its-finally-friday-and-final-thread.html I have been taking the last couple of months to contemplate what I want to do with this forum. I think it's time for me to step away as well. Reasons are multiple. Mainly the loss of old friends, Susan and milo but others as well that, when I check their profiles, have been inactive for months, some for a year or two. Never heard why. Just stopped coming here or anywhere on Disqus. Lack of enthusiasm and participation has been evident as well. That includes my lack of enthusiasm. I am NOT blaming anyone. I can't advertise this forum so newbies are rare. Regulars have either gone away or drop in and leave a comment or two - often, it seems, out of habit.
