Peter Taylor asks... [S2E7]

Peter Taylor

Is it moral to lie to protect someone?

An age-old question that is more complicated than it looks.  Where do you personally draw the morality line on lying?  Is it found along a spectrum, from the innocuous to the egregious?  Is it “situation relevant?”  “Person relevant?”  Is it dependent upon some desired outcome?  Does a lie in favor of the many outweigh the lie in favor of the few, or the one (you seek to protect)?  What factors play a part in how you draw that line?  What is the/your calculus?

Give Peter your specific thoughts on “the morality of lying to protect someone.”  List examples if possible.

And thanks for favoriting and supporting the thread!
