Putin sends troops into eastern Ukraine

Recognition by Mr Putin of their independence paves the way to give them military support - and the president has now ordered an operation in the two regions.


AND the price Putin will pay for this action?

At an emergency meeting of the UN Security Council, chaired by Russia, US ambassador to the United Nations Linda Thomas-Greenfield said "the consequences of Russia's actions will be dire - across Ukraine, Europe and the globe".

Dire, umm, how dire?

In response, the White House said President Joe Biden signed an executive order prohibiting "new investment, trade, and financing by US persons to, from, or in" the two breakaway regions.

Umm, punish the two regions, NOT Russia itself? WOW, is Joe Biden tough or what?

A top EU official, Didier Reynders, said the bloc is ready to implement sanctions over what it described as an "act of war".

More sanctions? Bet the Russkies are quaking in their boots!

Question: SHOULD WE CARE? Isn't this Europe's mess to clean up?

Philosophical Question #14 – Lifestyle Choices

Here is an interesting question in my list of philosophical questions: 1.) Should governments have penalties for those who live unhealthy lifestyles? A list of unhealthy lifestyles would include things like smoking, drinking, illegal drugs, prostitution, and other “vice” type activities. I guess the “government penalties” would be referring to monetary punishments, withholding medical treatments (insurance companies would love that), possibly imposing/regulating very high (exorbitant) prices on things considered unhealthy in order to cut down on their use, and other possibilities. 2.) Or, would you say that living an unhealthy lifestyle, likely resulting in a LOT of eventual personal pain and suffering, should be punishment enough for unhealthy lifestyles? When people make bad choices in life, often in their youth where ignorance and immediate gratification takes them over,  3.)
