A TV THREAD

Just how much TV can someone watch?

Studies show that moderate TV watching can lead to greater cognitive decline over 10-20 years. Exercise also does not mitigate these effects.

According to research, TV watching does not increase the risk of dementia.

How much TV is too much for adults?

Doctors and researchers have come up with slightly different answers, but the general rule is that anything more than 3½ hours of television each day can be excessive.

Snowy's take: too much of ONE kind of TV will definitely turn your mind to mush.

Into news? Have to keep up with Ukraine, Trumpism, Partisan politics, the latest scandal? The Kardashians?

Into soaps? Ok, I ain't goin' there!

Into sports? I actually know guys who would consume sports 24/7 if they could.

Into binge watching?

Over time, binge-watching may harm your health in ways you may not expect. Among the concerns researchers have raised are decreased physical inactivity, sleep problems and fatigue, blood clots, heart problems, poor diet, social isolation, behavioral addiction, and cognitive decline.

BUT, what else ya gonna do during Covid? Go for walks? Read a book?

And exactly what are we getting from our TVs nowadays. Kinda out of date, but Bruce said it best:

Nowadays though, it is more like 570 channels - and more.

SO questions for today:

HOW MUCH TV do you watch?

WHAT do you watch?

And is there anything worth while watching nowadays?
