30 years ago Tomorrow's World predicted 2025 - how did it do?


In 1995, the BBC's Tomorrow's World programme decided to predict what the world would look like 30 years later, in 2025.

The show, which is no longer broadcast, featured one of the most famous scientists of the age, Prof Stephen Hawking, who predicted: "By 2025 we can expect big changes."

OK, enough of that nonsense, most of us just want to know if the price of bread will come down, if Canada will become the 51st state, who will win the Super Bowl (or the Stanley Cup), if Ukraine will be lost, if democracy will die, if cars will drive us, and whether the weather will get worse.

 It's like this folks: sometimes your mind goes blank. Happens more than usual with me of course. Take this forum for instance. I wanted to post something today and couldn't think of a topic. At least not a non-sexual one and we know sexual ones lately have been frowned upon.  Then along comes one of our regulars and complains about something. Well, they might not say it was a complaint, just an observation, but it was a complaint. A minor one. It has something to do about being able to make something out of nothing. Sort of like me this morning, how to make a thread out of an empty head? But they (notice I am using the correct pronoun, not saying he or she), by what they said got me thinking.
