It’s just “Emotions”…

I was watching an old STTNG last night, and Data was asking Jordie, “What does anger feel like?”  Jordie goes on to describe anger with other like (similar) kinds of feelings.  Data then says, “Can you describe anger without referring to other feelings?”  Jordie says, “Hmm, I don't know.  You just feel… errrrrrrrr,” shaking his fists.

What do you think?  Can describing anger without referring to other feelings even be done?  You feel hostility, belligerence, combative, etc., all like feelings.

We’ve all felt anger before.  Now reflect back on that.  So here’s today’s question:

  • What is the psychological (not physical, e.g. hormones, adrenalin, etc.) essence of anger. Can you do it, describe it, without using other feelings?
  • And what is the feeling of "anger resolved?"  Is it feelings of satisfaction?  Of justice?  Of revenge?  Other?

Contemplate these emotions and post your thoughts.
