The "miracle" of Fatima

In 1917 three Portuguese shepherd children claimed to have been visited by the virgin Mary and received three secrets, the second of which is:

... Consecration of Russia to my Immaculate Heart, and the Communion of reparation on the First Saturdays. If my requests are heeded, Russia will be converted, and there will be peace; if not, she will spread her errors throughout the world, causing wars and persecutions of the Church. The good will be martyred; the Holy Father will have much to suffer; various nations will be annihilated. In the end, my Immaculate Heart will triumph...

Tomorrow, March 26, the Pope will consecrate Russia and the Ukraine to the Immaculate Heart of Mary, and all will be right in the world. The amazing thing about this is that the Pope and many Catholics actually believe in this nonsense. This is not the first consecration, but previous failures have been explained away by Marian scholars as failing, because the exact conditions in Mary's instruction have not been met.

The miracle of Fatima is the dancing of the sun in the sky, "observed" by some 30,000 people, give or take a few thousand. Believe that if you like!

What do you think? Will Mary's Immaculate Heart stop the war, or will it dwindle away, and the faithful will attribute it to this "consecration"?
