Georgia's January Senate Election

Not a very long post but wanted to share a link with everyone. As everyone well knows, on January 5th, there are two runoff elections in Georgia that will determine which party controls the Senate. Republican Sen. David Perdue is running for reelection against Democrat Jon Ossoff in a regularly scheduled election. Republican Sen. Kelly Loeffler faces Democrat Raphael Warnock in a special election. Loeffler was appointed to fill former Sen. Johnny Isakson’s seat after he resigned.

Control of the Senate now hinges on the outcome of these two races. The Senate currently stands at 50 Republicans and 48 Democrats. If Democrats win both runoffs, the party will have control of the chamber because Vice President-elect Kamala Harris would break any ties. But if Republicans win one of the two races, they will maintain control.

In the link below is FiveThirtyEight's daily update of the polling of this extremely important race. As of yesterday it appears that Ossof is ahead by .4 and Warnock is ahead by 1. Tight. The cynic in me though given the state this is in and what pundits have been predicting thinks it will not go the Democrats' way January 5th but we won't know until those constituents speak with their votes of course. So no use moping just yet.

Here's the link and that is all. You can now go back to your regularly scheduled program.
