“We the people”… the last line of defense against POTUS Donald J. Trump?


Okay, I know it’s Sunday-ish and most of us are At the Mall or watching NASCAR (has that started yet?), but let me mess up your day. 😭  If not me, who?  If not now, when? 😛

So far nothing has stopped Trump:

  • The politicians have not been able to stop him (see Mueller Report, Impeachment)
  • The courts have not been able to stop him (see tax returns and financial disclosures blocked)
  • The law has not been able to stop him (see high crimes and misdemeanors)
  • The generals, while they lasted, were not able to stop him (see Mattis, Kelly, McMaster)
  • Twitter has not been able to stop him (see insulting tweet storms at all hours of the night)
  • Bad poll numbers have not been able to stop him (steady low 40’s)
  • The Evangelicals have not been able, or haven’t wanted to stop him (see judges, abortion, porn stars)
  • Big Macs and KFC buckets have not been able to stop him and his svelte 239 lbs (see greasy fingers)
  • Lack of sleep hasn’t stopped him (he hates those weak-looking little slivers of death)
  • Even the weather, with his perfect storm (lost by 2.8+ million popular votes) didn’t stop him
  • I suspect that the reverse of what could happen on 5th Avenue wouldn’t even stop him (I dare not say it)
  • The list goes on.  (Do check it out.)

So what’s left?  We the people (even as we face cyber interference, gerrymandering, voter suppression, Super PACs, and who know what else I’m not thinking of) are seemingly the last line of defense against this out-of-control president.

Philosophical Question #14 – Lifestyle Choices

Here is an interesting question in my list of philosophical questions: 1.) Should governments have penalties for those who live unhealthy lifestyles? A list of unhealthy lifestyles would include things like smoking, drinking, illegal drugs, prostitution, and other “vice” type activities. I guess the “government penalties” would be referring to monetary punishments, withholding medical treatments (insurance companies would love that), possibly imposing/regulating very high (exorbitant) prices on things considered unhealthy in order to cut down on their use, and other possibilities. 2.) Or, would you say that living an unhealthy lifestyle, likely resulting in a LOT of eventual personal pain and suffering, should be punishment enough for unhealthy lifestyles? When people make bad choices in life, often in their youth where ignorance and immediate gratification takes them over,  3.)
