Philosophical Question #24 -- Responsibility

“Responsibility” is an interesting concept.  Webster defines it like this:

Where does responsibility begin and end?

  • With the self?

  • With the person “of authority?” E.g.,:

    • Boss that mis-directed you?

    • Clergy who ill-advised you?

    • Only with a person who has achieved “adult status?”

Can one truly be responsible for another?

  • If someone is killing themselves and you simply watch and refuse to interfere, are you partially responsible for that death?

I’ll cut it off there.  A lot to think about.  Make your cases.
