Rules for Commenting.


This is a place for news, politics, general discussion, topics of interest, humor.
Feel free to post non-political news, personal opinions, observations on the human condition, as well as personal stories, or about whatever interests you. Quirky fun stuff is always welcome as well.


The rules here are simple: everyone is free to express their opinions, but there will be no tolerance for trolling, partisan hacks, racist or bigoted comments or memes, acting like a jerk (example: hurling insults).



Partisan hacks:

Whatever your politics, you are welcome here, but if you come on here to constantly call people n#zis, commies, libtards, fascists, etc - you will be dealt with swiftly.
It is too easy to label everyone who has a different point of view as being evil, corrupt, somehow deficient in their character, so it will be left to the discretion of the moderators if you cross a line and apply a label to an entire group of people - in other word - be passionate about your side of an argument but avoid labeling people.

Disagree with other posters all you want, but show at least a modicum of respect and do not engage in unnecessarily nasty and provocative rebuttals.

Philosophical Question #14 – Lifestyle Choices

Here is an interesting question in my list of philosophical questions: 1.) Should governments have penalties for those who live unhealthy lifestyles? A list of unhealthy lifestyles would include things like smoking, drinking, illegal drugs, prostitution, and other “vice” type activities. I guess the “government penalties” would be referring to monetary punishments, withholding medical treatments (insurance companies would love that), possibly imposing/regulating very high (exorbitant) prices on things considered unhealthy in order to cut down on their use, and other possibilities. 2.) Or, would you say that living an unhealthy lifestyle, likely resulting in a LOT of eventual personal pain and suffering, should be punishment enough for unhealthy lifestyles? When people make bad choices in life, often in their youth where ignorance and immediate gratification takes them over,  3.)
