Predictions...

I think most people like (?) to try to predict something.  They do it with sports pools (Bengals over the Rams by 7 ☹), they do it in religions (Heaven or Hell for you!), they do it for politics (will Trump ever pay for his multitude of crimes [yes, no, or snowball’s chance]), they do it for their future hopes (doctor, lawyer, Indian chief. Look it up.) 😁

Okay, joking aside (in some cases 😜), we often hear about going back and killing baby Hitler, preventing the Lincoln and Kennedy assassinations, preventing the Atomic Bomb from being developed, etc.  Changing the past is a pastime fantasy for many of us.  What we’d do about historical X, if we could.

But let’s talk about “historical future”; oxymoronic, I grant you.  How will the future play itself out for humankind? 

Will we eventually annihilate ourselves in the name of greed and/or power?  Will we advance to what theoretical physicist Michio Kaku calls a “Type 1 Civilization” (we are currently a “Type 0”.  Look that up too.)?

Let’s do some predicting here:

So, what are your predictions for humanity’s future?  See if you can come up with at least three, but shoot for as many as you can.

Philosophical Question #14 – Lifestyle Choices

Here is an interesting question in my list of philosophical questions: 1.) Should governments have penalties for those who live unhealthy lifestyles? A list of unhealthy lifestyles would include things like smoking, drinking, illegal drugs, prostitution, and other “vice” type activities. I guess the “government penalties” would be referring to monetary punishments, withholding medical treatments (insurance companies would love that), possibly imposing/regulating very high (exorbitant) prices on things considered unhealthy in order to cut down on their use, and other possibilities. 2.) Or, would you say that living an unhealthy lifestyle, likely resulting in a LOT of eventual personal pain and suffering, should be punishment enough for unhealthy lifestyles? When people make bad choices in life, often in their youth where ignorance and immediate gratification takes them over,  3.)
