Candy Cane shortage caused by COVID and supply chain issues

It’s the nice Candy Cane Crisis of 2021.

Weakness in peppermint crops and COVID-caused logistical issues have created an issue for Big Candy.

“We only received half of our candy cane order for the holiday season and sold out almost immediately. We currently have zero in stock,” Mitchell Cohen, the proprietor of Economy Candy on the Lower East Side, informed The Post. “Raw material and ingredient shortages globally have had quite an impact.”

It was a primary for the shop, which has been in business since 1937. Cohen mentioned they offered greater than 12,000 sweet canes earlier than operating dry.

“Since candy canes were invented, we’ve had candy canes,” he mentioned.

Peppermint manufacturing within the United States has declined practically 25 % over the previous decade, according to the US Department of Agriculture.

Economy Candy says followers of peppermint-flavored sweet canes should not the one folks struggling. The candy boutique offered out early of each its kale and ham flavored sweet canes.

Philosophical Question #14 – Lifestyle Choices

Here is an interesting question in my list of philosophical questions: 1.) Should governments have penalties for those who live unhealthy lifestyles? A list of unhealthy lifestyles would include things like smoking, drinking, illegal drugs, prostitution, and other “vice” type activities. I guess the “government penalties” would be referring to monetary punishments, withholding medical treatments (insurance companies would love that), possibly imposing/regulating very high (exorbitant) prices on things considered unhealthy in order to cut down on their use, and other possibilities. 2.) Or, would you say that living an unhealthy lifestyle, likely resulting in a LOT of eventual personal pain and suffering, should be punishment enough for unhealthy lifestyles? When people make bad choices in life, often in their youth where ignorance and immediate gratification takes them over,  3.)
