On the road again.........

 Realized this morning we haven't talked about our summer plans.

Let me start:

Taking off this morning to take Geri to see her ailing daughter back in MN. She will be staying for about 5 weeks, so after dropping her off, I will be back home to batch it for the rest of the summer. 

Those of you who have followed my adventures might remember I had a road trip planned for this summer. 

Well, except for delivering my better half to her destination and returning home, that is off. 

My niece who I haven't seen since Covid is coming in August for two weeks. Originally she said she was coming for just a week, but I gave her a piece of my mind (what is left of it) and told her a week wasn't enough. She agreed.

So, all in all, a quiet summer. No big plans. As for the road trip, we are getting on in years and I have vowed to make the road trip before it becomes too late to do one.

Here is the rub: I really would love to include parts of the States, but except necessary family related trips, I am boycotting my home country because of you-know-who. 

Is THAT being childish? Some have said they think so (including my bro). But I am also avoiding buying any American products - such as my fave Jack Daniels.

Here is the 2nd rub: My niece is getting married next summer. Apparently they are planning a HUGE wedding. Not my thing, but hey, she is my niece. SO, I plan on killing two birds with one stone. A road trip that will avoid the States - except for the stop in MN for the wedding. Then off to see Toronto, Ottawa, Montreal, Quebec City, and the east coast provinces. 

By myself. Yup, that was my vow, to make one last road trip on my own. Crazy, eh?

Ok, enough about me. If anyone wants to share their summer plans, including what they have done with the first half of it, please share. 



Ah yes, that is the other thing. It's friggin' hot where most of you are. Me? I am spoiled in N Ontario where it seldom gets real hot. Are y'all boiling down there?

Confronting Bluster 😡💢🗯🗯

  So, what is bluster? By definition: - to speak or act in a noisy, angry, or threatening way without saying anything important As good enough an explanation as any I guess, but it really doesn't say it all. Back when I was a kid, there was always that kid on the teams that would lose at whatever game it was and get mad while blaming someone else for the loss, even though they'd been a major part in the loss. So I naively assumed that bluster was only a sore loser thing. As I got older and worked I found out that it was also a tactic to try and scare others from fighting back. So a poker reference here, it's very similar to someone going "all in" right away to discourage anyone from calling the bet. Now, we see it quite often in politics, usually with doubling down if it's confronted.
