10 Unpopular Opinions

 


Herewith, ten unpopular opinions.  All mine own, and all plainly and unutterably TRUE!  Well, I would think so, would I not?

Feel free to argue with any and all.

And then add your own!

1) It's not just conservatives who refuse to learn how science works.
2) Star Wars is a bore. So is Lord of the Rings.
3) You're not entitled to your own opinion on everything. You're only entitled to it on matters of opinion, not of fact.
4) The television of the 1960s and 1970s, with damn few exceptions, is worthless crap and always was.
5) Men are not better drivers than women.
6) If your explanation for rejecting something scientific requires a conspiracy theory, it's almost certainly bullshit.
7) Most people are not stupid, and "average" isn't stupid.
8) Most people who complain about "intellectuals," "bubbles" and "ivory towers," however, are stupid.
9) Americans are ill-read and it shows. Movies are not the new novels. Neither are TV series. Drama has always co-existed with written and spoken fiction.
10) Women are better gamers than men.

Philosophical Question #14 – Lifestyle Choices

Here is an interesting question in my list of philosophical questions: 1.) Should governments have penalties for those who live unhealthy lifestyles? A list of unhealthy lifestyles would include things like smoking, drinking, illegal drugs, prostitution, and other “vice” type activities. I guess the “government penalties” would be referring to monetary punishments, withholding medical treatments (insurance companies would love that), possibly imposing/regulating very high (exorbitant) prices on things considered unhealthy in order to cut down on their use, and other possibilities. 2.) Or, would you say that living an unhealthy lifestyle, likely resulting in a LOT of eventual personal pain and suffering, should be punishment enough for unhealthy lifestyles? When people make bad choices in life, often in their youth where ignorance and immediate gratification takes them over,  3.)
