What do Ted Cruz and Andrew Cuomo have in common?

 Answer is obvious.

If you are a Lefty though, excuses can be found for Cuomo but not for Cruz.

If you are a Righty, excuses can be found for Cruz but not for Cuomo.

That is the OTHER thing they have in common, partisans willing to slag one but not the other.

But my focus is a tad different.

Introducing Lanny Davis:

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lanny_Davis

Heard him on the radio this morning and he was BRILLIANT.

He was assessing Cruz's situation but he could just have easily been talking about Cuomo.

He has a simple philosophy when it comes to getting yourself into hot water and how to handle it (as opposed to how NOT to handle the trouble you are in)

He pointed out three principles, that could even be applied to you and me and every human being who gets caught in a scandal.

Here are his three principles:

Tell it early!

Tell it in YOUR own words!

Tell the Truth!

Truth always will come out, especially in the era of social media, so get the Truth out EARLY so you don't have to backtrack or look like you are making up excuses.

Tell the Truth in your own words, don't say so-or-so said this or that, or you heard something or read something and you are just repeating what you heard or saw - speak honestly and from YOUR heart, in your own words.

AND TELL THE TRUTH.

If you screwed up, admit it. If you did something for selfish or self-interest reasons, admit it. IF YOU DON'T, others - including the media - will put their own "truth" or "spin" on a story, so tell the TRUTH. Don't say you did something for this reason or that reason by give the REAL REASON you did something, even if it was selfish.

You will earn MORE respect by being Truthful than by making up excuses or covering up.

AND THAT FOLKS - is a lesson for both Cruz and Cuomo!
