Fanaticism…

fa·nat·i·cal

/fəˈnadək(ə)l/

adjective: fanatical

  1. filled with excessive and single-minded zeal.

Often, the term “fanatic” is meant in a derogatory way.  “Ignore him. He’s just a fanatic!” meaning, can’t be reasoned with.  Ain’t no getting’ thru to ‘em.  Fugedabadit!

Similar words would include: zealous, extremist, dogmatic, radical, intolerant, narrow-minded, single-minded, inflexible, uncompromising…

But being a fanatic is not necessarily a bad/evil thing.  One can be fanatical about many things: their beliefs, principles, life-styles, etc., where it doesn’t necessarily impose negativity on others.

True, everything affects everything else, at least indirectly (the old “when a butterfly flaps its wings in South America”).  But, not so as to get that deeply into the philosophical woods here:

Q: Is there anything that you’re fanatical about?  What factors drive/have driven you to that mindset?  Explain yourself.  :)

Thanks for recommending.
