Good News! The Fish Cannon is Now Online and In Use

Also called the salmon cannon, this device is used to move salmon migrating upstream past dams that block their progress. The cannon is a modified form of fruit cannon used in harvesting easily damaged fruit without damaging it.

The fish swims into a narrow enclosure with an opening at one end. The fish swims into the opening, which then closes and a blast of air with some water mist accelerates the fish to about 20-28 mph through a slippery, soft flexible tube over the dam. The fish then flies out the end of the tube, through the air and into water on the upstream side of the dam.
