Is Being First That Important?

Some new IPhones have come out.  So, to fill space, the news has been showing the history of the thing, especially with people who waited in line for days to be the first person to get one.   Bunny can’t understand this.   Same with the latest version of some video game or other products.  These aren’t some rare, limited items, but mass produced and more than enough for anyone who wants one.  The next day, anyone can just walk into the store and buy one…no waiting.

Same with those who time the birth of their child to be the first one of the new year.  Does anyone remember who was the first to be born in the year 2,000, or who saw the first sunrise of the millennium?  Will this look good on your resume?

Bunny not competitive, but can see being the first to land on the Moon or Mars.  What is it that makes being the first and something ordinary so important?
