Majority rule?

There has been a lot of talk lately about the loss of our “We the People” democracy, here in the U.S.

As heretofore rights get clawed back (e.g., abortion rights supported by the majority), or get promoted (e.g., gun rights not supported by the majority) by the powers-that-be (politicians), I think loss of democracy is a valid question to consider.

  1. When the majority of the people expect certain rights, and they aren’t provided, what kind of government would you call that?
  2. What does it take for a country to maintain a democracy?
  3. Does/Can democracy work for every country?  If no, why not?
  4. Other thoughts on democracy.
