In the year 2525 - if man is still alive.....

Image
Our climate projections for 2500 show an Earth that is alien to humans There are many reports based on scientific research that talk about the long-term impacts of climate change — such as rising levels of greenhouse gases, temperatures and sea levels — by the year 2100. The  Paris Agreement , for example, requires us to limit warming to under 2.0 degrees Celsius above pre-industrial levels by the end of the century. Every few years  since 1990 , we have evaluated our progress through the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change’s (IPCC) scientific  assessment reports  and related  special reports . IPCC reports assess existing research to show us where we are and what we need to do before 2100 to meet our goals, and what could happen if we don’t. The recently published  United Nations assessment of Nationally Determined Contributions (NDCs)  warns that current promises from governments set us up for a  very dangerous 2.7 degrees Cels...

It's BANNED BOOKS WEEK!

Image
Every year, I take special note of this week.  It's a reminder that for all our talk about speech freedom, people on both sides of the political aisle and across the ideological spectrum can always find a special reason why this book or that book mustn't be placed where innocent eyes might see it. This year's most banned books are: George  by Alex Gino.  Challenged, banned, and restricted for LGBTQIA+ content, conflicting with a religious viewpoint, and not reflecting “the values of our community.” Stamped: Racism, Antiracism, and You  by Ibram X. Kendi and Jason Reynolds.  Banned and challenged because of the author’s public statements and because of claims that the book contains “selective storytelling incidents” and does not encompass racism against all people. All American Boys  by Jason Reynolds and Brendan Kiely.  Banned and challenged for profanity, drug use, and alcoholism and because it was thought to promote antipolice views, contain d...

The Earth IS indeed Flat!

Image
New research deflates current understanding of the shape of our world For years the niche community of people that believe the earth is flat have been the center of comedic ridicule — ostracised by the general public as ‘lunatics’ and ‘out of their mind’ for over two thousand years. The theory is believed to have begun in ancient Greece and later developed in the Bronze and Iron ages in civilizations closer to the Near East until late in the Hellenistic period (31 BC). Cutting edge researchers from the University of Malta, Dr Harry Johnson, Prof. Anita Bath, and Dr Oliver Klosov have confirmed that there is evidence to suggest that the world is, in fact, flat . This discovery has come to the forefront from a longitudinal study spanning 25 years from over 50 leading universities around the world — beginning at the University of Malta.   In 1996 a team of five researchers at the University of Malta were assigned the task of measuring ions from earth’s atmosphere and determining ...

Sundays

Image
What do YOU typically do on a Sunday? Church? Pray it doesn't rain? Visit family? Hibernate? FOOTBALL? Catch up on chores?  Or are Sundays like any other day of the week for ya? Whatever it is, drop by, drop a joke, a music video, a cutsey meme, tell us what riles you up (if anything). As for me, the only diff on weekends is not having to get up early to drag myself off to school cross guarding, but me and my lady do have a routine on Sundays - starts with: https://www.allrecipes.com/recipe/257015/finnish-pancakes/ Not into football, and because of Covid, we don't visit anyone, but we do try to get in a long walk, otherwise Sundays aren't anything special, but are they for YOU?

“Let’s be Evil” Friday…

M’waaahaahaahaa! Feel like blowing off some "frustration steam" today?   Being ornery is one way.   My blog friend, Peachy Keen, gave me an idea.   Let’s have some political fun with acronyms.   I will present a list of common chat acronyms with their meanings, and you can pick out a few that strike your fancy, and change it to mean something else.   You don’t have to go strictly political, but let’s face it, it’s more fun that way.   Sky’s the limit, but don’t get too nasty/crude, else Snowflake may ban you.   Also feel free to add ones that are not on the list below.  I’ll do a couple myself as examples:   STFU: Shut the *swear word!* up   --could mean-- Stop The Freakin’ Usurpers LMK: Let me know   --could mean--   Lindsay [Graham] Must Know [the truth] NVM: Nevermind   --could mean-- No Votes [really] Matter [in light of all the political corruption and Citizens United, gerrymandering, and voter suppression ?...

Buckle up: Arizona Republicans to show 2020 recount results https://apnews.com/article/donald-trump-elections-arizona-phoenix-conspiracy-theories-cdda651fb894c826abf91571a5354c6c PHOENIX (AP) — Donald Trump supporters hired by Arizona Senate Republicans to review the 2020 vote count are preparing to deliver their findings on Friday, the climax of a bizarre quest to find evidence supporting the former president’s false claim that he lost because of fraud. Hand count in audit affirms Biden beat Trump, as Maricopa County said in November https://www.azcentral.com/story/news/politics/elections/2021/09/23/arizona-audit-draft-report-confirms-biden-beat-trump-2020/5835521001/ The hand count shows Trump received 45,469 fewer votes than Biden. The county results showed he lost by 45,109.  TRUMP SUPPORERS GONNA BE LIKE ANY PREDICTIONS? Will the report actually contain ANY juicy tidbits for Trumpers to hold on to? Will Trump have a hernia? Will other States finally "get" it and stop w...

WHY is this happening?

Have you had ENOUGH of the wall to wall news coverage of the murder of   Gabby Petito? While the media frenzy is covering every angle of this story, including anyone who had any contact with her prior to her disappearance, one has to wonder about something else: As Petito case captivates U.S., missing Native women ignored In Wyoming, the state where Petito's body was found, only 18% of indigenous female homicide victims get newspaper coverage, compared with 51% for white female and male victims, according to  a state report . https://www.reuters.com/world/us/petito-case-captivates-us-missing-native-women-ignored-2021-09-22/ Media Fascination With The Petito Mystery Looks Like Racism To Some Native Americans "It should be the same, if an African American person goes missing, or a Hispanic person goes missing, a Native American ... we should have the same type of equal efforts that are being done in these cases." https://www.npr.org/2021/09/21/1039268981/media-petito-like-...

Rolling billboard with anti-vaccine message

Image
promoting ‘funeral home’ turns heads! CHARLOTTE ( WJZY ) — On game day in Charlotte, North Carolina, thousands flood the streets to watch the Panthers face off against any given opponent. On Sunday, something new caught the eye of tailgaters — a truck, circling the Queen City with a message: “Don’t Get Vaccinated.” For a split second, those who read it might think it is an anti-vaccination campaign, until you see what is beneath the message: the name of a funeral home. If it doesn't work?

IF it doesn't work, what do you do with it? Replace it Repair it Get rid of it and never get it again Let it sit there Now, imagination-wise, the above could meant different things. So what do you do with something that doesn't work?
