It's a wonderful world, isn't it?
This thread is promoted by a few things:
GLOOM AND DOOM everywhere, in the media 24/7, on discussion forums, particularly political ones, in coffee shops, on the internet, around the dining room table even.
ALSO the negativity goes far beyond politics.
Have you found that people complain more now than they used to? They bicker more in stores over prices, they complain about this group of people or that group of people, sometimes the get upset about too much noise or too much traffic or about yappy dogs.
We worry about climate change, about divisive politics, about the lack of respect in our social discourse.
BUT I am reminded DAILY of how wonderful life, and the world around us, can be.
LET ME EXPLAIN:
I am now retired (prior to covid I still worked part time). My common law wife and myself get up every morning to enjoy a cup of coffee and in summer sit out on our patio.
We see couples walking hand in hand, we have even seen when we go around town, the odd gay couple holding hands.
We see black kids playing with white kids. We see Muslim girls being befriended by non-Muslim girls.
We are witnessing a move towards electric vehicles, cities and towns and/or shops banning plastic.
We see GIRLS all over the world fighting for what is right, from Emma Gonzalez, to Malala Yousafsai, to Greta Thunberg.
BUT more than this: we have family, friends, people who care for us, who we care for.
Now that slowly Covid is being defeated (unless there is another surge) there is a whole wonderful world out there to explore.
Or just take a walk, climb a hill, visit a library, sit on a park bench watching people go by, go find a marina, or just get stoned (that is a trip all on it's own)
There's flowers, trees, bumblebees, butterflies, and paperback books. There is ice cream, music and song, thunderstorms and rainy days. SO MUCH to get excited about.
SO YES OR NO - isn't the world a wonderful place?
