My first contribution to this blog in too long!  Part of an ongoing argument between white Christian churchgoers and the former co-congregants who are leaving in droves.

KMR to Guest on Troubler of Israel: "Church Membership Isn't Optional,"  1/7/19: Australia has done quite a bit to counteract their gun problem. Congratulations on that. Wish the US would do the same. You do realize though that you can't love your neighbor as you love yourself though when tell them their sins disqualify them from a relationship with God. That's a judgement and one that all people know in first world countries means that you think they are going to be tortured for all eternity. They're not going to take kindly to that and harmony goes out the window because you immediately become an asshole for God. All psychologically healthy people tell themselves that they are doing their best and give themselves a break when crap happens. Do you tell yourself you are going to hell when you sin? If not don't do it to others. And if you do I am sorry because that's an awful way to live, to think you're going to burn alive for eternity every time you aren't perfect. Because let's face it, no one is.

I know you feel obligated to warn people and I get that since fundamental Christians believe Jesus has given you a mandate for it in the Great Commission. But I am going to tell you how that looks to others. Because you judge, because you believe in hell (a permanent torture chamber for simply not being convinced that Jesus died on the cross for our sins, an act that occurred 2000 years ago and only documented in one book that has been translated multiple times by multiple generations of people because it was not originally written in a language we use now), many people don't like you. I know you think that is because of your message. It's not though. It's because we don't think fundamental Christians are fundamentally decent people anymore. So many of you are mean to others and so fearful of change and progress since it messes with your worldview. You are no longer salt on the earth. You've become bile.

Please be kind and mind your own business. Just because you have an opinion doesn't mean you have to express it all the time. Let people be people, treat your neighbors like human beings even if they're gay, try to be responsible and not vote for awful human beings (said to those here in the US not you). We're all in this together. You may think you're warning people about a tsunami coming but we believe your version of the tsunami is fantasy so it's just annoying noise that we've heard a million times over. We're tired of the same ol' same ol'. Try something different.
