A word about this upcoming week

Well, maybe more than a word. But just a few.

Anyone here can go over to my friend Germaine's channel to see my note there about my intentions for this upcoming week.

Simply: I won't be present starting Monday. But I will be hovering. I doubt very much, that the results will cause anyone here to get into a heated exchange with anyone else. But ya never know. So I still expect our rules for civility to be obeyed.

I welcome anyone who wants to post a thread to do so if they desire to, but I doubt, starting Tuesday, our minds will be on anything other than...............

AND YES, if any of my authors want to post a discussion about the results, they are welcome to as well. I won't be participating, but will be keeping a watchful eye out just the same.

We all know that this is going to be one nasty week. 24 hr coverage of every twist and turn. And regardless of the results, a lot of people are going to lose their cookies. Me and my lady won't be two of them. We won't be able to avoid "hearing" about the results but we won't be watching any news channels and intend to enjoy the fall weather before it gets nasty out. 

Lastly - keep your cool, try to relax, and hopefully survive the upcoming week. See y'all on the other end.

Philosophical Question #14 – Lifestyle Choices

Here is an interesting question in my list of philosophical questions: 1.) Should governments have penalties for those who live unhealthy lifestyles? A list of unhealthy lifestyles would include things like smoking, drinking, illegal drugs, prostitution, and other “vice” type activities. I guess the “government penalties” would be referring to monetary punishments, withholding medical treatments (insurance companies would love that), possibly imposing/regulating very high (exorbitant) prices on things considered unhealthy in order to cut down on their use, and other possibilities. 2.) Or, would you say that living an unhealthy lifestyle, likely resulting in a LOT of eventual personal pain and suffering, should be punishment enough for unhealthy lifestyles? When people make bad choices in life, often in their youth where ignorance and immediate gratification takes them over,  3.)
